Overview
We are seeking an experienced R&D Finance Planning & Controlling Specialist / Expert to support a high-priority transformation programme within a global life sciences environment.
This role sits at the intersection of R&D, Finance, and IT, focusing on designing and implementing a standardized framework for R&D project and financial management. The consultant will play a key role in ensuring process harmonization, system integration, and global adoption across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement R&D financial controlling frameworks across multiple entities and systems
- Manage R&D cost tracking at project and activity level, including:
- Actuals tracking by milestone
- Activity-based forecasting and planning
- Develop and implement:
- Change Notification Forms (CNF) processes
- Accruals processes
- Build budgeting and forecasting templates aligned with operational workflows
- Support process design and optimization, ensuring alignment with existing systems and business processes
- Assess financial risks at mid-gate stages of R&D projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Finance, R&D, and IT
- Contribute to system integration initiatives and ensure alignment with financial processes
- Provide best practice guidance within R&D controlling (life sciences preferred)
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in Finance Planning & Controlling within R&D environments
- Proven experience in:
- R&D cost management at project/activity level
- Financial planning, forecasting, and milestone tracking
- Experience bridging business process design with system implementation
- Hands-on experience with:
- SAP
- Tagetik
- Condor
- Ability to work across multiple entities using different systems
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience in life sciences/pharma is highly preferred
